The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of a hybrid learning approach to deliver a computer science course concerning the Microsoft office PowerPoint 2003 program in comparison to delivering the same course content in the form of traditional lectures. A hundred and seventy-two first year university students were randomly assigned into two teaching method groups: traditional lecture instruction (TLI) and hybrid lecture instruction (HLI). Each group received six 95-min periods of instruction divided into 4 sections: a) 5-min brief outline of the key learning points, b) 40-min lecture on general knowledge c) 45-min constructivist-inspired learning activities and d) 5-min summary on key learning points. In the beginning and the end of this study students completed a 17-item multiple choice knowledge test. Two-way analysis of variances (ANOVA), with repeated measures on the last factor, were conducted to determine effect of method groups (TLI, HLI) and measures (pre-test, post-test) on knowledge test. The measures main effect was significant, as well as the groups x measures interaction effect. Two independent-samples t test were conducted to follow up the significant interaction. Differences in mean ratings of knowledge performance between the two teaching groups were not significantly different at first measure, while the TLI method group yielded a significantly lower mean rating at second measure. The findings indicated that HLI approach might be a superior option for undergraduate students on learning the Microsoft office PowerPoint 2003 program. 相似文献

An important aspect of spelling development in English involves the child's ability to use morphological context to deal with one-to-many sound-spelling mappings for word endings. One case involves /z/ endings that follow long vowels, where an “s” spelling is required in the case of inflected noun and verb contexts, but an “se” or “ze” spelling is required in the case of noninflected nouns and verbs. The present study examined the ability of good and poor spellers in Grade 4 to capture these morphological distinctions in a pseudoword spelling task. Overall, the good spellers outperformed the poor spellers, and both groups were more sensitive to the inflected–noninflected noun distinction than the inflected–noninflected verb distinction. These findings underscore the importance of linguistic factors in spelling development as well as the necessity of providing due consideration to these factors in spelling instruction. This paper presents a fast and efficient load flow technique for unbalanced distribution system. The proposed load flow technique is derived by promulgating the concept of conventional backward forward sweep (BFS) technique of power flow study for distribution system. The proposed technique employs a novel load-impedance matrix (LIM) to calculate the bus voltages in a single step unlike the conventional BFS approach which involves two separate steps (backward sweep and forward sweep) to perform the same and this improvement is claimed as the novelty of this work. This distinctive feature makes the proposed algorithm faster in operation. Nodal voltages, at any iteration, may be calculated, directly, from the values obtained in the previous iteration by utilizing LIM. A simple concept of set theory is adopted here to construct the LIM. Special treatments are also included in this method to analyze weakly meshed systems. The proposed technique is flexible enough to accommodate any sort of changes in the existing network topology through LIM. It is tested on different three-phase balanced and unbalanced radial distribution systems as well as weakly meshed networks for load flow study. A separate case study is also presented to check the validity of the proposed load flow technique for various transformer connections. The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed technique. Furthermore, performance comparison reveals that the proposed algorithm is, computationally, faster and robust than the conventional power flow techniques reported in the recent state-of-the-art literatures. 相似文献

Both college level students and instructors alike have become frustrated with the modern textbook. Textbooks are expensive, passive in tone; water downed, and rarely has the breadth and depth that is needed for a course. Recently, Myles Johnson a former Psychology Instructor, has come up with an instructional method known as My Text that addresses these frustrations. Here students, with the instructor’s guidance, create their own textbooks.
